Meet Dr. Valerie Swan

Dr. Valerie Swan smiling in the officeDr. Valerie Swan was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia.  She graduated high school at age 16, receiving a gold medal for completing every year of her matriculation with Highest Honors and majoring in Mathematics and Physics.  Dr. Swan was then chosen to travel to the United States as an exchange student, and after receiving a prestigious Distinguished Scientist Scholarship, she completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at Bard College in upstate New York. Dr. Swan then received her Master of Science Degree with Highest Honors from the world renowned Johns Hopkins University with concentration in Biomedical Engineering. Following four years of her dental education, Dr. Swan received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the world’s first dental college, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. Dr. Swan then completed a one year internship and a four year residency specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, becoming one of a select few female oral surgeons. Dr. Swan became a Chicagoan following her Oral and Maxillofacial training in Arizona when she joined a private practice in Naperville. She then became an Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and for four years ran the department of Oral Surgery at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine–Illinois located in Downers Grove, prior to returning to private practice and now joining Advanced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AOMS). 

Dr. Swan is excited to practice full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery alongside Drs. Dohse and Wolf.  She is honored to provide the highest quality of care to her patients, utilizing the latest technology, when they seek the expertise of an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon.
